PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus, a software update method, and an image processing apparatus that can easily achieve both update of software embedded in the apparatus and protection of information.SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus that updates software 21 embedded in its own apparatus comprises: encryption decryption means 5 for storing a value to be uniquely calculated by software 20 to 22, encrypting information with the value, and decrypting the information that is encrypted with the value; authentication means for authenticating a software update file 110; software update means for updating the software 21 by using the software update file 110 that is authenticated successfully; and encryption key management means for controlling to encrypt again the information 70 that is encrypted with the value, with a new value changed on the basis of update of the software 21. |
