PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for coating that adheres well to a plastic substrate such as a plastic lens substrate without a primer layer and is capable of forming a hard coat layer exhibiting high tolerance in a boiling test.SOLUTION: There is provided a composition for coating which includes (A) a co-hydrolysis-condensation product of bisphenol group-containing silane and UV absorbing group-containing silane, (B) colloidal particles of silicon oxide, (C) a reactive silyl group-containing acrylic resin, (D) a hardener and (E) a solvent. The inventive composition for coating adheres well to a plastic substrate without a primer layer and can form a hard coat layer excellent also in transparency of the appearance. A plastic lens having a hard coat layer using the inventive composition for coating on a plastic substrate, a polycarbonate resin lens in particular, has reduced degradation due to ultraviolet rays and sufficient impact resistance. It also has high tolerance in a boiling test, so its tolerance in an adherence test is dramatically improved. |
