PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide 'a lane mark detector and a lane mark detection method' for correctly raising an alarm when a vehicle moves in the horizontal direction by exceeding an original lane mark position even while the vehicle travels such a road that lane width changes.SOLUTION: A lane mark detector includes: a lane mark detection part 1 which detects right and left lane marks from among photographed images; a road sign detection part 2 which detects a road sign from among the photographed images; a distance acquisition part 3 which acquires distance from the road sign to the lane marks; and a lane mark position estimation part 4 which estimates correct positions of the lane marks based on a position of the road sign detected by the road sign detection part 2, and the distance acquired by the distance acquisition part 3, and estimates the original correct lane mark position by utilizing the road sign even while a vehicle travels such a road that lane width changes by executing processing of the distance acquisition part 2 and the lane mark position estimation part 3 whenever the road sign detection part 2 detects the road sign from among the photographed images. |
