PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can efficiently produce porous silicide by using silicicolous plants such as chaff supplied stably as a silica raw material.SOLUTION: A method includes a process for forming silica ash containing silica as a main component by burning silicicolous plants and a process for adding to the obtained silica ash an alloy comprising a periodic table group 2 alkaline earth metal and a periodic table group 13 metal, and then heating them in an inert gas atmosphere. Preferably, in the silica ash heating process, the obtained silica ash is added with a magnesium aluminum alloy, and the resulting material is heated in an inert gas atmosphere for a reaction, for example, 4Mg-Al+SiO→MgSi+2MgO+Al to obtain magnesium silicide. |
