<p>Thermal processing of a rod-like workpiece (2) by a thermal processing beam emerging from a processing head (17), comprises: clamping the workpiece in two mutually spaced clamping devices along a feed direction of the workpiece; supporting the workpiece by at least one supporting element, where the supporting element is arranged in the feed direction after the clamping devices; and rotating the rod-like workpiece about its longitudinal axis during processing the workpiece with the processing beam to a processing point. The clamping device or the supporting element is movably mounted. Thermal processing of a rod-like workpiece (2) by a thermal processing beam emerging from a processing head (17), comprises: clamping the workpiece in two mutually spaced clamping devices along a feed direction of the workpiece; supporting the workpiece by at least one supporting element, where the supporting element is arranged in the feed direction after the clamping devices; and rotating the rod-like workpiece about its longitudinal axis during processing the workpiece with the processing beam to a processing point. The clamping device or the supporting element is movably mounted and performs compensating movement in at least one direction differing from the feed direction, during the rotary movement of the workpiece. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a processing machine (1) for thermal processing of rod-like workpieces, comprising a processing head for thermal processing the workpiece in a processing point, a controlled, actuable rotating and a feeding device (7) for the work pieces having at least one controlled, rotatable clamping device for the workpiece, which is driven about the longitudinal axis of the workpiece, a push-through device (10) for guiding the workpiece during a movement in the feed direction, which has at least one clamping device for the workpiece and a support device for the workpiece, where support device has at least one supporting element which is arranged in the feed direction after the rotating and feeding device, and after the push-through device, and at least one of clamping device is moved in at least one direction differing from the feed direction of the workpiece and/or the supporting element is movable in at least one direction differing from the feed direction and the direction of gravity; and (2) a supporting device for supporting a workpiece on a processing machine, comprising at least one movably mounted supporting element comprising a receptacle for the workpiece, which is radially supported at the wall of the workpiece.</p> |
