A multi-plate type descender comprises a main body (1) and a plurality of tier rods (2.1). A human body (5) is fixed and connected to the main body (1). A flexible control rope (3) is provided and corresponding nodes (3.1) are arranged at the upper set position of the control rope (3) corresponding to each tier rod (2.1). A rope winding and positioning stop lever (2.1.3A) is also provided on the tier rod (2.1) and a working rope (4) winds across the rope winding and positioning stop lever (2.1.3A). A user only needs to operate the control rope (3) manually so as to descend or hover. With the winding position of the working rope (4) limited by the rope winding and positioning stop lever (2.1.3A), the possible damage to the working rope (4) by open sliding holes (2.1.1B) of tier rods (2.1) is avoided.
