PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of detecting that a brightness of an image in a screen is discontinuous with a small number of error detections.SOLUTION: A flash detection part 2 calculates a line average brightness in a current screen of image data and a full screen average brightness in a screen at least of one before, and compares the line average brightness with the full screen average brightness in order to detect whether a line in a part of a screen has a high brightness due to a flash emission or not. A buffer memory 4 stores previous screens of previous image data. A flash correcting part 8 corrects image data by replacing a line having high brightness in the current screen with a line in a previous screen stored in the buffer memory 4 when it is detected that a part of a line in the current screen has high brightness.
