PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device configured to improve energy efficiency.SOLUTION: A brake device includes: a master cylinder 5 for generating hydraulic pressure in response to a driver's brake operation; a brake operation amount detection part for detecting a brake operation amount of the driver; a reservoir 4 for supplying brake fluid into the master cylinder 5; a pump 7 for sucking the brake fluid in the master cylinder 5 or the reservoir 4 and ejecting it toward a wheel cylinder provided in a wheel; and a hydraulic pressure control part that control the hydraulic pressure of the wheel cylinder 8 by actuating the pump or an electromagnetic valve according to the brake operation amount detected by the brake operation amount detection part. In a predetermined brake operation region after the driver starts brake operation, the hydraulic pressure of the wheel cylinder 8 is produced by the hydraulic pressure generated in the master cylinder 5.
