PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization switching device that reduces crosstalk generated at a separation portion between a plurality of electrodes.SOLUTION: The polarization switching device comprises: a polarization switching element 2 that includes a plurality of electrodes 24 arrayed at a space from each other and a liquid crystal layer 21 allowing liquid crystal molecules facing the electrodes 24 to rotate a polarization direction of incident linear polarization light L1 by 90 degrees to transmit the light L1 and allowing liquid crystal molecules facing separation portions 42 to transmit the light L1 without rotating the polarization direction in a state where a voltage is not applied to the electrodes 24, and allowing for transmission without rotating the polarization direction in a state where a predetermined voltage is applied to the electrodes 24; and a polarization switching element 3 that includes a plurality of electrodes 34 arrayed alternately with the electrodes 24 and a liquid crystal layer 31 allowing liquid crystal molecules facing the electrodes 34 to rotate a polarization direction of incident linear polarization light L2 by 90 degrees to transmit the light L2 and allowing liquid crystal molecules facing separation portions 52 to transmit the light L2 without rotating the polarization direction in a state where a voltage is not applied to the electrodes 34, and allowing for transmission without rotating the polarization direction in a state where a predetermined voltage is applied to the electrodes 34. |
