A biofuel cell (1) is provided with a positive electrode (23), a negative electrode (11), an external circuit (30) electrically connecting the positive electrode and negative electrode, a positive electrode region (7) where the positive electrode is arranged, a negative electrode region (5) where the negative electrode is arranged, and a proton-permeable membrane (9) arranged between the positive electrode region and the negative electrode region; a biological catalyst is held together with crushed matter in the negative electrode region. The negative electrode region is separated by a mesh (13) into an electrode region (15) and a crushed matter region (17), the negative electrode being held in the electrode region and the crushed matter being held in the crushed matter region. |
