A system and an associated method for starting up stirring machines in a sediment in a controlled manner are provided, which system has the following: a container (1) for receiving materials to be processed; a stirring-element device with stirring-element blades (3) for stirring the materials to be processed in the container; a flushing device; and a device (2) for operating stirring machines. The flushing device is arranged in such a way and set up so as to feed medium to a sediment which is formed in order to flush the sediment free. Furthermore, a controller (10) is provided which causes controlled re-starting of stirring machines after the free flushing operation.
