PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizer which is capable of reducing an influence of nonlinear optical effects of a dielectric.SOLUTION: A polarizer 1 has a fiber coupler structure having a coupling part 3 where two hollow core optical fibers 2 are coupled in a lengthwise direction. The portions transmitting light are hollow core parts of the hollow core optical fibers.
