PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time until printing becomes available while suppressing deterioration in image quality.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus (color printer 1) includes a control device 100 capable of executing holding control of allowing a holding member (holding roller 57) to hold a developer adhering to an image carrier (photoreceptor drum 51), movement control of moving the developer held by the holding member to the image carrier, and collection control of allowing a collection unit 90 to collect the developer adhering to the image carrier via a conveyance belt 73, the control device 100 executing the holding control during printing and executing the movement control and the collection control after the printing. The control device 100 sets a flag when an amount of a developer held by the holding member, detected by developer amount detection means 110 in the last movement control, is not more than a first predetermined amount, and resets the flag when printing is started. When a flag is not set at start-up, the control device 100 executes the movement control and the collection control after the start-up before printing, and when the flag is set at start-up, omits the movement control after the start-up before printing. |
