PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-vehicle lighting device which does not limit a driver's field of view because of false detection of the presence of an oncoming vehicle.SOLUTION: As a headlamp illuminates in the traveling direction of a vehicle, the intensity of light emitted out of a headlamp is reduced to a given intensity or lower intensity (or the headlamp is turned off) for a given light-reducing period, during which an image of the traveling direction of the vehicle (light-reducing period image) is acquired. On the light-reducing period image, a reflected object on the road side looks dark and a headlamp of an oncoming vehicle looks brighter. This allows a driver to easily and accurately determine whether an oncoming vehicle is present or not. When determining that the light-reducing period image indicates the presence of the oncoming vehicle, the driver sets an illumination range of the headlamp to a second illumination range narrower than a first illumination range. |
