The system (1) has an environment sensor arranged in or at a vehicle (2) for detecting an environment of the vehicle. Controllers are arranged in the vehicle for autonomous controlling of the vehicle by longitudinal and transverse guiding processes. A stationary verification and monitoring device is arranged at a fixed park position (3) within the vehicle and connectable with the controllers over a wireless communication link (9). The monitoring device monitors an automatic parking process. The environment sensor comprises an optical sensor e.g. laser scanner and wide-angle camera (7).
