The method involves preheating material (14) adjacent to a storage chamber (8) located in a process chamber (5) before removing the stock material from the storage chamber and transferring the stock material to the process chamber. The storage chamber is made of highly heat-conductive material. The material is thermally conducted and/or thermally radiated before being preheated. The individually controllable induction coils (16) are preheated in the process chamber.
