The separator (1) has a rotor (2) arranged in a housing (10), and a gas guide ring (3) radially surrounding the rotor, where the separator is designed as a centrifugal separator. The guide ring extends in an axial direction of the rotor and made from plastic or steel plate. The guide ring is loaded with a preload force, and an oil discharging channel is arranged in the guide ring, where the guide ring is not rotated simultaneously relative to the rotor.
