PURPOSE: Metallic magnetic material powder, a manufacturing method thereof, and a chip element including the powder as a magnetic layer are provided to prevent the degradation of saturation magnetization due to oxidation and to obtain insulating properties by separating metal powder, thereby suppressing the saturation magnetization under a high current condition. CONSTITUTION: An insulating layer (22) is formed by coating the surface of metallic magnetic material powder (21) with a tetravalent oxide so that the metallic magnetic material powder is manufactured. An iron metal compound including Fe or Fe can be desirably utilized for the metallic magnetic material powder. The iron metal compound is a material such as Fe-Al-Si and Fe-Cr-Si. The thickness of the insulating layer is 30-50 nm. The tetravalent oxide coated on the surface of the metallic magnetic material powder can be one or more kinds selected from a group composed of TiO2, SiO2, ZrO2, SnO2, NiO, ZnO, CuO, CoO, MnO, MgO, Al2O3,Cr2O3, Fe2O3, B2O3, and Bi2O3. |
