PURPOSE: A variable brake light control system using a terminal installed in a vehicle and a control method thereof display various types of information by using a desired brake light pattern. CONSTITUTION: A brake light (502) has multiple LEDs arranged in a specific pattern and displays various forms and patterns. A pattern input or selection unit inputs the pattern of the brake light by an embedded application program or selects one pattern among the patterns. A terminal (503) installed in a vehicle transmits the inputted pattern information of the brake light to a communication network (510) in the vehicle. A brake light control device (501) receives the pattern information, generates a control signal controlling each of the LEDs of a lighting unit according to the received pattern information, and transmits the control signal to the brake light.
