[Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] Air and gas are mixed in a Venturi-shaped tube 1 having a transversely moving shoe 10 which varies the number of holes 36 uncovered; normally gas is admitted at 5 and air by the holes 36 but the functions may be reversed. The holes 36 communicate with air chambers 37 through distributors 38 controllable by rotation. The shoe 10 which is guided by spring- pressed rollers 17 is moved by a remotelyactuated lever 34 and clogging is prevented by the wiper 53. A pair of sealing members 12 are spring-pressed outwardly against the throat of the venturi-shaped tube 1 the ends of which are held by covers 3, 4, connected together by plates 7, 8. Slow running is regulated by a rotatable slotted sleeve 50 which co-operates with the last hole 36. In a modification, acetylene or other rich fuel is fed through the chamber 37 to the hole 36 co-operating with the sleeve 50. Alternatively the rich fuel may only be fed to a few holes 36 uncovered at full-load running, the chamber 37 being divided by a partition. A further modification has one of the distributors 38 fed with liquid fuel by a float chamber, the stem of the distributor having an air channel controlled by a screw connected to the fuel channels by radial holes. |
