PURPOSE: A data relay apparatus without a decoder is provided to reduce the cost of a decoder by not including a decoder which decodes a packet stream received from a source device. CONSTITUTION: A relay apparatus WiFi communications unit (240) receives a multimedia file which is transmitted by a packet stream method. A USB connector (220) is supplied with power by a USB port (350) of a playback device and transfers the multimedia file to the playback device. A relay apparatus control unit (210) transfers the multimedia file to the playback device through the USB connector. The USB connector is supplied with power through a power pin which is located in the USB port of the playback device.
