A replacement heart valve comprises a securing means 2 and a non-return valve 3. The securing means 2 includes a resiliently deformable material adapted to adopt collapsed and non-collapsed configurations. The resiliently deformable material has a memory such that it returns to the non-collapsed configuration when not held under tension. The resiliently deformable material may be nitinol. The valve 3 is adapted to be secured within a valve annulus. Preferably the securing means 2 comprises two lobes 4, 5 that are connected by a waist 6, the waist 6 including a non-return valve 3. Each lobe 4, 5 may have an opening. Preferably the two lobes 4, 5 of the valve securing means 2 are proximal and distal to the valve annulus, the proximal lobe 4 contacting the valve annulus and the native anterior and posterior valve leaflets on the atrial side of the heart, and the distal lobe 5 contacting the valve annulus and the native anterior and posterior valve leaflets on the ventricular side of the heart. Preferably the lobes 4, 5 form a disk in the non-collapsed configuration.
|
