<p>An article of footwear comprises: a sole structure (2210) including an aperture set (2400) comprising two or more apertures (2402, 2404, 2406) extending from a top portion to a lower portion of the sole structure (2210) and being configured to engage with a thong portion (2300); the thong portion (2300) comprising a first separable portion (2311), a second separable portion (2312) and a third separable portion (2313); the first separable portion (2311) having a first widened portion (2331), the second separable portion (2312) having a second widened portion (2332) and the third separable portion (2313) having a third widened portion (2333); a top portion of the apertures (2402, 2404, 2406) having a stretched cross-sectional area corresponding to the cross-sectional area of the apertures (2402, 2404, 2406) in a fully stretched position and a normal cross-sectional area (A10) corresponding to the cross-sectional area of the apertures (2402, 2404, 2406) in a non-stretched position; the first widened portion (2331) having a cross-sectional area (A11) that is less than the normal cross-sectional area (A10), the second widened portion (2332) having a cross-sectional area (A11) that is less than the normal cross-sectional area (A10) and the third widened portion (2333) having a cross-sectional area (A11) that is less than the normal cross-sectional area (A10); wherein a combined cross-sectional area of the first widened portion (2331), the second widened portion (2332) and the third widened portion (2333) is greater than the stretched cross-sectional area of the apertures (2402, 2404, 2406); and wherein the thong portion (2300) is removably insertable into the apertures (2402, 2404, 2406) of the aperture set (2400) for variably attaching the thong portion (2300) to the sole structure (2210).</p> |
