A process for synthesis of exo-2-aminomethylnorborn-5-ene involves reduction of bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene-exo-2-carbonitrile. Aluminum hydride (AlH, alan) excess is used as reducing agent, this is prepared in situ of equimolar amounts of lithium aluminium hydride and trimethylsilyl chloride in diethyl ether, the reaction is carried out while reaction mixture boiling. |
