PURPOSE: A helical current type air curtain and a method for controlling the same are provided to form an air curtain of a horizontal calculating current flowing into a front side of a main frame after colliding in a central portion of an entrance by being discharged from a lateral side of the main frame, thereby improving an ability blocking the entrance. CONSTITUTION: A helical current type air curtain(10) comprises a main frame(10), a blower(20), a damper(30), and a controller(40). The damper receives air induced from the blower and discharges air horizontally to a set discharge direction. The controller controls the operation of the blower corresponding to an opening/closing of an entrance. The controller sets an air discharge direction properly to an operation condition and environmental condition of an air curtain, thereby controlling the operation of the damper. The air being horizontally discharged by passing through dampers of both sides is collided in the central portion of the entrance, thereby blocking inner and outer sides of the entrance.
