A method of implementing a remotely initiated insurance claim process and a system therefor. The method includes receiving insured data identifying an insured person and/or a motor vehicle insured. In addition, receiving claim data via a mobile communications network, the claim data being sent from a mobile communications device of the insured person, the claim data including information relating to an insurance claim relating to the motor vehicle after an insured event has occurred. The insured data and claim data are then used to asses an insurance claim and thereby to determine if an insured amount must be paid out to the insured. |
