An array substrate for an LCD and a fabricating method thereof are provided to develop processing productivity and reduce processing cost by omitting some processes. An array substrate for an LCD includes a substrate(100), a gate line, a data line(126), a thin film transistor, and a pixel electrode(132). The gate line is arranged in one direction on the substrate. The data line intersects to the gate line to define a pixel area(P). The thin film transistor is formed on an intersection point between the gate line and the data line. The thin film transistor includes a gate electrode, a gate insulation layer, an active ITO pattern, a source electrode, and a drain electrode(124). The pixel electrode contacts to the drain electrode by depositing selected one of a transparent conductivity metal group and patterning. A passivation layer(128) is formed on the substrate. |
