PURPOSE: A vector containing a modified glutamine synthetase (GS) gene is provided to select an expression vector containing a modified GS gene and to effectively produce a target protein. CONSTITUTION: A modified GS is prepared by substituting 299th amino acid (glycine) with arginine in GS with an amino acid of sequence number 4. A polynucleotide encodes the modified GS. A vector for expressing a target protein contains the polynucleotide and a gene encoding the target gene. A transformant is prepared by the vector. A method for preparing the target protein comprises the step of culturing the transformant.
