The pipetting device has an electrical control unit (17) for controlling the pipetting process which is controlled by a user-definable set of operating parameters, which is assigned to an operating mode. The electrical control unit is formed to store a set of parameter value determined by a user automatically as a historical set of parameter value in a memory unit (18). The electrical control unit is formed to carry-out the automatic storing of the set of parameter value after the use of the selected set of parameter value. An independent claim is included for a method for operating an electrical pipetting device.
