PURPOSE: A method for providing diagnostic information of inflammatory diseases and a kit using the same are provided to easily diagnose and treat various inflammatory bowel diseases by measuring methylation of a STAT-4 gene promoter region. CONSTITUTION: A method for providing diagnostic information of inflammatory diseases comprises the step of measuring methylation of a STAT-4 gene promoter region. The inflammatory disease is inflammatory bowel disease. The prognosis of inflammatory diseases is determined when the STAT-4 gene promoter region is methylated at -43 site. A kit for diagnosing inflammatory diseases contains a primer set which measures methylation of the STAT-4 gene promoter region.
