A device for guarding wall mounted electrical switches from inadvertent operation comprises a child-resistant push and twist plastic cap 1 and a threaded base unit 2 which adheres to a wall-mounted electrical fascia by means of a double sided adhesive ring 4. The cap can be a mass-produced child-resistant push and twist mechanism and is secured to an external thread (fig 5, 2a) on the base unit by a twisting action. The cap can have a top unit 1 having internal plastic leafs (fig 9, 1a) and an inner shell (fig 10, 3) having external teeth (fig 10, 3b) and internal threads (fig 10, 3a). The switch guard can be used to prevent accidental operation of switches on a wall mounted socket (fig 3) or switch (fig 4) and can be securely mounted to a fascia 5 using the double-sided adhesive ring 4 without modification to the fascia.
