[Class 110 (iii)] Angularly adjustable guide blades 25, Fig. 5, in the nozzle passage of a gas turbine have trunnions 23, 24 mounted in carbon bushes 26, 27. The bushes are carried by the floors 20, 21 of trough-shaped parts which are open towards the gas passage. The troughs are closed by a number of segmental plates 32, 33 spaced slightly from the ends of the blades by means of ceramic washers 38 or by forming the plates with slight bosses around the holes through which the trunnions pass. Cooling air is circulated through the chambers 34, 35 and through the chamber 37 above the outer pivot. For adjusting the blades, levers 40 secured to the trunnions 23 engage an adjusting ring 41. Each lever has an end-piece 45 pivoted at 44 and secured at 46 to provide for individual adjustment. Alternatively, the part 42 may be mounted eccentrically on a pin turnable in the end of the lever 40. The levers 40 may be secured to the outer trunnions 24. A gas turbine plant which comprises a turbine 8 driving its air-compressor 6 and a ducted fan 9, is regulated by means of pivoted guide blades 10. These blades are adjusted by servomotor means 11 responsive to variations in the ratio of compressor speed to compressor mass flow as determined by a gear 12, one element of which is driven from the compressor shaft by gears 13, 14 and another element by an anemometer 15 in response to mass flow. The combustion chamber temperature is kept constant by means of a thermometric element 17 which controls the fuel supply.
