PURPOSE: A thruster installation and maintenance method for a drillship is provided to install and maintain a thruster on a drillship at a desired time without a floating crane, a barge, and a submergence unit. CONSTITUTION: A thruster installation and maintenance method for a drillship is as follows. A thruster (110) is detached from a hull (100) using a hoist unit (300) formed on the deck (130) of a drillship (1). The thruster rises up to the through a vertical penetration path (120) formed on the hull to be extended to the deck. When the thruster rises up, guide bars (200) formed on the inner walls of the vertical penetration path guide the thruster.
