PURPOSE: An interference signal detection and avoidance apparatus and a method thereof are provided to effectively avoid signal interference by detecting an incoming inference signal quickly. CONSTITUTION: A reception unit (110) receives a signal based on given receiving sensitivity. An interference occurrence decision unit (120) computes an error count depending on whether the signal received by the reception unit is normal or not. The interference occurrence decision unit determines whether interference by an adjacent channel occurs or not based on the error count. If the interference occurrence decision unit determines that interference occurs, a control unit (130) reduces a given amount from the given receiving sensitivity. The control unit directs the reception unit to receive a signal based on the reduced receiving sensitivity.
