The plate (1) has a section bearing (10) resting perpendicular to a tool reference plane (8) of the plate. A cutting edge (6) is limited against the tool reference plane by a chipping surface (14) at a chipping angle (gamma) that is lesser than or equal to 0 degree. A chip guiding surface (18) adjoining the chipping surface is formed steeper than the chipping surface relative to the tool reference plane in a direction away from the cutting edge. The chip guiding surface is formed against the tool reference plane at a chip guiding angle (delta) of about 0-90 degree. |
