PURPOSE: An image editing device and a method for selecting a region of interest are provided to select a region of interest on an image accurately in an image editing device including a touch screen by using a touch and a drag. CONSTITUTION: An image editing device and a method for selecting a region of interest comprise the following steps: a touch screen unit (30) indicates an image, and receives a touch or a drag; when a first touch is inputted through the touch screen unit, a control unit (10) generates and indicates a selection initial point for starting a choice regarding a predetermined part of the image in a position in which the first touch is inputted through the first touch; when a second touch and the drag are inputted, the control unit moves the indicated image in accordance with an input direction of the drag; and the control unit generates a selection locus in accordance with a locus drawn along an input of the drag, and generates a selection image region which is in accordance with the selection locus.
