An apparatus and a method for testing a rubbing roller are provided to test the whole area of the rubbing roller efficiently when inspecting a cloth gap and step faults of the rubbing roller, thereby reducing test time, previously detecting the faults before performing a rubbing process, and improving measurement reliability. A cylindrical rubbing roller(103) is wrapped with rubbing cloth(101) in its outer circumference, and has a central shaft and the outer circumference. A moving unit(120) is formed in an upper part of the rubbing roller to be parallel to the rubbing roller. One or more cloth gap detectors(131) move by the moving unit in parallel to the rubbing roller, and detect a width between end parts of the wrapped rubbing cloth. The cloth gap detector faces the central shaft and is placed apart from the outer circumference. |
