PURPOSE: A composition containing Piper retrofractum Vahl. extract is provided to enhance energy source supply of muscles and to improve locomotion including endurance. CONSTITUTION: A health functional composition contains 0.001-80 wt% of Piper retrofractum Vahl. fruit extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared using an organic solvent or by supercritical extraction. A health functional food or pharmaceutical composition contains the extract as an active ingredient and has AMPK activation mechanism. A functional composition enhances muscle volume and locomotion and recovers fatigue. The composition is manufactured in the form of powder, granules, tablets, capsules, syrups, or drink. |
