The present invention relates to a music-creating method and server, which involve selecting music preferred by a user, providing a sample of the selected music, and enabling the user to edit the musical note and chord of the music sample, thus enabling the general public who do not possess expert knowledge of music to easily create music. The music-creating method comprises: a step of enabling a music-creating server to transmit a tournament music setting menu to a user terminal, the menu enabling the selection of either of two different pieces of music; a step of determining the selected music as user music in accordance with the result of the reception, from the user terminal, of the setting inputted via the tournament music setting menu; a step of analyzing whether a music sample corresponding to the determined music preferred by the user exists in the music information stored in a music information database, and transmitting the musical notes and musical chords of the analyzed sample to the user terminal; a step of receiving changed musical note information and changed musical chord information as information for editing the musical notes and musical chords transmitted from the user terminal, and editing the musical notes and musical chords; and a step of creating music corresponding to the edited musical notes and musical chords as music created by the user.
