The method involves evaluating solar light to which a solar light sensitive apparatus i.e. information display device, is subjected, and allowing an operation of activation of a control unit for generating control commands (38) influencing operation of the apparatus. The control commands are generated according to absolute position of the sun (62). A characteristic of a solar cone (63) converging towards the apparatus and towards the head of an observer (61) is determined, where position and orientation of the apparatus are identified beforehand.
