This separator, which is connected downstream from a wet-type dust collector that collects dust contained in exhaust gas, and which separates water droplets containing dust from the exhaust gas from the wet-type dust collector, is equipped with a housing that forms a passage within which the exhaust gas flows and that has a gas entrance to a gas exit. A partition member is provided to the interior space of the housing. The end at the gas exit side of the partition member is provided with a dam that dams dust-containing water flowing along the surface of the partition member. The dust-containing water dammed by the dam is discharged out of the housing from the dam by means of a water discharge tube interconnecting to the dam through a water discharge opening. The partition member is disposed in a manner so as to segment the interior space of the housing into a top and bottom at the gas exit side, and at the partition member is disposed a deflector that orients dust-containing water flowing along the surface of the partition member towards the water discharge opening.
