A fuel cell system is provided with: a fuel-cell stack; a cathode-supply channel connected to the fuel-cell stack and through which cathode gas flows; a cathode-off-gas channel for discharging cathode off-gas and connected to the fuel-cell stack; a bypass channel which branches off from the cathode-supply channel and through which some of the cathode gas flows, bypassing the fuel-cell stack; a bypass valve for adjusting the bypass flow in the bypass channel, and having a hole connecting to the atmosphere; and an anode-off-gas channel for discharging anode off-gas, and connected to the fuel-cell stack. Therein, the anode-off-gas channel merges with the bypass channel at a point downstream from the cathode-off-gas channel or the bypass valve, and the bypass valve has a gap formed therein for permitting leakage of a prescribed amount of gas even when the bypass valve is fully closed. |
