PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear driving device that operates silently and applies a load that produces a remarkably large driving force.SOLUTION: A linear driving device includes: a plurality of magnetic poles that are respectively comprised of an annular ring of a soft magnetic body whose outside is fixed to the inside of a cylindrical-shaped soft magnetic body; exciting coils for exciting a pair of magnetic poles adjacent to each other; a plurality of soft magnetic body columns; and an energization control circuit. The soft magnetic body columns are disposed in an operating element in which a column-shaped soft magnetic body is supported so as to be slidable by a bearing along a shaft line of the cylindrical-shaped soft magnetic body, and their respective outside surface is opposed to a magnetic pole surface with a slight gap interposed therebetween. The energization control circuit generates a step operation on a two-thirds magnetic pole width basis by sequentially energizing the exciting coils, or generates a relative driving force between the soft magnetic body columns and the magnetic poles by controlling energization of the corresponding exciting coils via an output obtained by detecting positions of the soft magnetic body columns by a position detection element. |
