PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a detergent composition, excellent in cleaning power and foaming ability, giving refreshness without leaving stickiness and stiffness and excellent in distribution of scums and leaving no foul in a lavatory or a bath room.SOLUTION: A method for producing a detergent composition comprises: heating and mixing (A) 0.1-60 mass% of alkyl ether carboxylic acid which is an alkyl ether carboxylic acid represented by formula (1) (in the formula, Rrepresents a 4-22C alkyl group and n represents an integer of 0-20), wherein the average carbon number of Ris 10.8-12.8, while at least 9.6 mass% and at most 27 mass% of a component of n=0 and at least 21 mass% to less than 40 mass% of the sum of components of n=1 and n=2 are contained and (B) 0.1-80 mass% of a liquid form fatty acid at 20°C and (D1) a part of water; and adding to the above with a mixture of (D2) the remaining water and (C) a base so that the neutralization index of components (A) and (B) becomes 50-100%. |
