PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase angle detection device which detects a phase angle as a relative rotation angle of a camshaft with respect to a crankshaft, and which reduces a detection error of the phase angle, caused by a rotational fluctuation of an engine.SOLUTION: A detection device detects a rotation angle of a crankshaft to a phase angle calculation base point of the crankshaft from an effective camshaft edge time at which a camshaft signal is input from a camshaft sensor, as phase angles. An actual rotation time from the effective camshaft edge time to the next crankshaft edge time is obtained; a rotation angle ▵Ang from the effective camshaft edge time to the next crankshaft edge time is calculated by using 1°CA (1deg crankshaft angle) time, namely, unit crankshaft rotation angle time, calculated from time T2 between the crankshaft edges, which overlaps the actual rotation time; and a rotation angle α from the crankshaft edge time to the phase angle calculation base point is calculated by using a value of a crankshaft counter. The respective rotation angles ▵Ang and α are added for calculation of the phase angle. |
