PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a composite member which allows easy positioning of groove parts when a skin material having a pair of skin pieces sewn mutually is used.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a composite member includes: a skin material holding process for causing a skin material holding device 50 to hold a part of the skin material 20 in which groove parts 25 are formed; a skin material arrangement process of fitting a separate mold 51 of the skin material holding device 50 into a fitting portion 45B of a lower mold 45 to arrange the skin material 20 in the lower mold 45; a held part removing process of removing the body portion 60 from the skin material 20; and a substrate attachment process of attaching a substrate 11 fixed to an upper mold 41 to the skin material 20 arranged in the lower mold 45. The separate mold 51 and the body portion 60 can hold the skin material 20 from the front and back sides through mutual adsorption by magnetic force. In the skin holding process, the part of the skin material 20 in which the groove parts 25 are formed is held while convex parts 52 of the separate mold 51 are fitted into the groove parts 25.
