The electronic ballast has an averaging circuit for averaging current received from the rectifying circuit to produce a reference voltage. The electronic ballast has a control integrated circuit for providing an output current to a compact fluorescent lamp by performing a linear to logarithmic conversion of the reference current, according to a predefined conversion function.
