The engine has a working medium circuit, in which a working medium is conveyed from a container (4) by a feed pump (9) through a waste-gas heat exchanger (5) and subsequently through a decompression device (11) back into the container. The decompression device includes a nozzle body (11a) with a variably controllable flow cross-section (A). An electronic control device (13) is connected with the nozzle body and the pump, and includes a function module (F1). The function module adjusts change of a mass flow produced by the pump based on change of the flow cross-section.
