The method involves arranging a measuring bridge (14) concerning to its middle point (BM) arranged in a vehicle longitudinal direction to the axle middle point (AM) of the measuring vehicle axle (12) at certain distance (X). The left and right bridge reference points (BL,BR) are assigned to the measuring bridge, which are spaced from each other and have the same distance to the bridge middle point. The left and right axle reference points (AL,AR) are assigned to the vehicle axle, which are spaced from each other and have the same distance to the bridge middle point. The distance between the points of the measuring bridge and the vehicle axle is measured, which includes side adjustment of the measuring bridge by a triangular sliding process and an angular adjustment by a square turning process or a diagonal turning process.
