The hospital bed (1) has bed couch surface which is divided into several movable and removable bed elements (3,5). The bed elements are attached to the bed frame (4). The short side (9) of the bed element is smaller than the torso or any extremity of human body. The number of bed elements is identical with the number of sections of fixed base. The bed element is movable by a sliding mechanism (8). The bed element is removed to form an aperture in the bed couch surface, so that undisturbed access to the patient body is ensured.
